Registration of PCCs with the Charity Commission -
GUIDANCE FOR PARISHES IN SHEFFIELD AND COVENTRY

This page is only for parishes in the dioceses of Sheffield and Coventry. These dioceses are piloting the registration process, and specific training sessions have been delivered.  If you are from another diocese, please do NOT use these materials yet.  In any event, no parish can register with the Charity Commission before 1st October without special permission.

Forms and Guidance

To register your PCC you will need to complete two forms : CC5a and CC5c. You will also need to use the Charity Commission's guidance, CC5b.  The Church of England has produced step by step guidance to make it easy for you to complete these forms. This is available as a pdf by clicking here.

Special Bulletins

Special Bulletins with latest guidance and advice will be made available from this page. Please look in the bottom box on the right.

ONLINE registration using OLAR

We would be grateful if parishes who are willing to do so, would pilot their submission using the Charity Commission's online system, OLAR. This requires the same information as the paper form, and a step by step guide is available by clicking here.

Notes and Training Presentation for Pilot Dioceses

A page of additional notes for pilot dioceses is available here.  A copy of the powerpoint presentation used at the training session is available here. (This is a lower resolution file with some of the images removed).

What if my income is exceptionally over £100,000?

If your normal income is £80,000 or less, but exceptionally you exceeded the £100,000 threshold last year due to a grant, legacy or particular building campaign, you can apply for a written determination that you need not register. (Formally, that the basis year would be 2006 rather than 2007.)  For a standard template letter in Word that you can use as a guide, please click here.
