New Bible Readings on Christian Giving

Generous God, Generous People

As Christians all of our life is lived as a loving response to God who gave his only Son that we might have eternal life.

Many of us read our Bibles each day. ‘Generous God, Generous People’ has been written to help us reflect on what it means to live as generous Christians. Over a period of five weeks using the following themes:

  • Generous God
  • Generous People
  • Generous Giving
  • Generosity towards others
  • Principles for Generous people to live by

Using the booklet people can explore what it means to live in the light of God’s generosity as generous Christians. Editor, Graham Hedger said,

‘The booklet helps open up the whole issue of giving and can shine a spotlight on daily practice. Our hope is that many people will study the scriptures and seek to excel in the grace of giving.’

Bishop David, Acting Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich, said,

“It’s a bit of a surprise that there is hardly any easily accessible Bible-based study material out there on the subject of Christian Giving. So full marks to the Giving Group for putting together ‘Generous God Generous People’ to help us here in Suffolk open our hearts and our hands even more fully to God and to each other. My vision is of a world based on giving not getting, and here is a very practical stepping-stone towards that good future.”

The booklet is now available, from the Diocesan Parish Resources Centre price £1
