Giving for Life > Individual Talk

Individual talk

Within the Giving for Life resources, we offer a talk/sermon for use by local churches.

This talk recognizes that many church members' understanding of issues of giving and generosity resembles a jigsaw. There may be a number of pieces missing, and other places where different parts have not been joined together.

The talk is accompanied by a leaflet for church members to follow, and to take away for reflection. There are four key points - that :

  • any reflection on giving starts with God, and his giving to us
  • when we consider our own giving, it's often helpful to see it as a journey
  • our giving to church and charity gives fresh life, hope, and enables God's mission in the world.
  • that we are called to be generous in all of life - with our time, skills, hospitality, and money, throughout our lives - at home, at work, and in our communities.

Each of the points is accompanied by a question for reflection.  Downloads are available for the leaflet (colour, local b&w printing), the outline of the talk and an accompanying PowerPoint presentation. Packs of the leaflet can be ordered from the National Stewardship Office, priced at £2 for 50 leaflets.
